The assault was launched on 12th February after an ultimatum of "being granted noble annexation and autonomy" was rejected on the 5th of February 1931. from the President of Inetezi Republican Regime. It was part of the regime's constant state of waging conquests in the names of "liberation from poverty", "civilization", "cleansing of the sins". These campaigns began purely out of The Whig Party's wishes to expand their members' possessions, with approval from The Nationalist Party. Eventually, President Demireli announced a campaign "in the name of faith" which lead to internal riots within the Inetezi Republic, forming a front consisted of religious leaders and dissidents within the military. News of the self-liberation of Viliakmon further weakened the Republican morale and was a significant argument in overthrowing of the regime three years later. Although a formal peace treaty between Viliakmon and the new Inetez government has never been signed, the two countries haven't had hostile incidents since 1947.
