The 2022 Lile Ulian Surfing Expo is the 20th year of an annual surfing competition in The Lile Ulie Islands. Though the games are always hosted in The Islands, competitors from all over the world take place in the expo. The competition took place in the ocean, not in an artificial wave pool, after being forced by surfers to put the events in the water.

Qualification

Makaha Beach of Pu'u is also the site for the expo's qualification. Each nation sends surfers, though, only 20 surfers, 10 from each gender, can compete at the expo.

Each surfer will have one heat, where they ride four waves. The judges, a panel of five, give a three digit score out of 10 for each wave. Then, each surfer compiles the scores of their best two (highest scoring) waves. The result of that is their final score for qualification. The ten highest scores on the male side, and then ten highest on the female side of qualification will advance to the expo.
