The Fortinian Confederacy (Fortinian: Confederation Fortinian) is a confederation of planetary systems, centred around the power located on the capital planet of X in the X system.

Name

The name comes from the most brilliant star in the confederacy, Fortinia which is located near the center of the territory within the XXX stellar cluster. It was also used as the basis for the name of the predecessor of the confederacy, the Fortinian League.

History

Pre-FTL

The earliest recorded traces of civilizations among the constituent members dates as far back as around 67,290 sya, with the first recorded planetary civilization having emerged around 54,370 sya.

The first planetary system fully controlled by one civilization is said to have been achieved around 40,140 sya and the first interplanetary colonization having been achieved around 30,200 sya.

Interplanetary relations

The first interplanetary relations became possible with the discovery of FTL technology around 10,370 sya.

Fortinian Union

The short-lived Fortinian Union was the first attempt to integrate many planetary systems within one centralized administration. Having been around for only around 220 sy, the Fortinian Union nevertheless inspired the precursor of the ponctual meetings system of the confederacy.

Fortinian League

Founded around 2,040 sy after the collapse of the Fortinian Union, the Fortinian League was the first major interplanetary union but was also short-lived. Around 1,560 sya the main members of the league decided to disband the organisation and founded with other planetary systems the more decentralized confederacy.
