The United Defence Forces (Fortinian: Fortias de Defensa Unite) also known as the FDU are the unified defence forces of Fortinian Confederacy. They include the General Staff of the Defence Forces, the main service branches: the Space Navy, the Planetary Legion and the Confederal Guard and the minor branches: the Special Operations Unit and the Strategic Support Group.

The FDU is staffed from constituent members' armed forces which are still able to act independently from the FDU.

The United Defence Forces does not represent the full firepower available for the Confederacy. In cases of emergency, the constituent members can be asked to mobilize their own armed forces under the unified command of the FDU.
